Since 2016, data protection, cybersecurity and AI laws in Canada, China, the EU and U.S. have expanded by approximately 400%. There are more legislation and regulation relating to digital trust than at any other previous time in history. At the same time, business deals require evidence of robust governance across these domains to close and drive growth.
The regulatory landscape for data protection, cybersecurity and AI governance remains a patchwork of inconsistent laws and overlapping jurisdictional mandates with sometimes conflicting requirements. This state of play is likely to continue for the foreseeable future.
