An analysis conducted by law firm RPC found the U.K. Information Commissioner's Office issued 42 million GBP in fines in the financial year 2020-2021, Infosecurity Magazine reports. The 42 million GPB total represents a 1580% increase from the previous year. A large amount of the figure comes from penalties issued against British Airways and Marriott International for their respective data breaches.
