The U.S. Federal Communications Commission voted to approve new data breach notification rules for telecommunications, interconnected voice over internet protocol and telecommunications relay services. The requirements include expanding the scope of the notification rules for certain types of personally identifiable information providers collect and expanding the definition of "breach" to include "inadvertent access, use, or disclosure of customer information."
