Just a quick update from me this week.

First, you may have seen my LinkedIn post on Thursday about how the Canadian Advisory Board and the IAPP staff are in full planning mode for next spring’s symposium.

The event is taking place in Toronto, provided gatherings are permitted. The reason for my post was to alert everyone that the call for proposals for the symposium is open right now, and I know these deadlines tend to come up quickly and surprise people. So don’t say I didn’t tell ya.

The deadline to submit your fascinating, awe-inspiring, forward-thinking speaking idea to help make this one of the greatest conferences we’ve ever had (no pressure!) is Oct. 24.

The symposium was also top of mind this week because I was reminded of all the fun we’ve had with the Annual Commissioner’s Gameshow over the years when, this past Tuesday, I acted as a trivia master for a very special and highly engaging KnowledgeNet. The virtual trivia event was organized by the chairs in Ottawa and Toronto jointly, and I’d like to give them a shout-out because they did a great job coming up with really interesting (and sometimes challenging) privacy-themed questions.

The last thing I wanted to mention is the IAPP and its partners are ramping up with tons of training opportunities you might find interesting. I’ll be leading a cohort of students through the CIPP/C course starting Oct. 19.

Have a great weekend, everyone and for those of you marking this weekend with a turkey dinner, enjoy the holiday and the time with loved ones!
