Responsible Data in Practice: Productive Uses, Provable Governance

Debates about data brokers rarely start with what brokered data actually does: identity verification, fraud and cyber defense, due diligence, benefits integrity, disaster response, and locating missing or vulnerable people. This session will map those uses, then tests them — how data sensitivity, purpose, customer and consequences of error change an activity’s real risk. The second half will turn to evidence, including the source documentation, purpose verification, access limits, monitoring, audit, correction and incident response a responsible company could produce. Consumer advocacy and industry perspectives will press each other throughout, leaving attendees with tests they can apply to their own programs.
