AI in the Workplace: Managing Bias, Privacy and Compliance Risk
Friday, 9 Oct.
11:15 - 12:15 EDT
Intermediate level
This interactive workshop examines the rapidly evolving legal and regulatory landscape governing artificial intelligence in the workplace. Using practical scenarios, including AI-driven recruiting, employee surveillance and productivity analytics, the session explores discrimination risks, privacy obligations and emerging compliance requirements under U.S., EU and U.K. law. The program will review recent litigation challenging algorithmic bias, the impact of the EU AI Act and state AI laws, and regulators’ increasing focus on transparency, human oversight and documented risk assessments.Â
Participants will engage in guided issue-spotting and practical discussion focused on vendor due diligence, bias mitigation, data minimization, notice obligations and governance strategies necessary to responsibly deploy AI in employment decisions while reducing legal and reputational risk. Attendees will also receive a practical tip sheet outlining key compliance steps and risk mitigation strategies for immediate implementation.
What you will learn:
- Understand how AI tools in hiring, monitoring and productivity are already regulated and create real litigation and enforcement risk.Â
- Key bias and privacy risks, and apply practical strategies for transparency, data minimization and meaningful human oversight in employment decisions.Â
- How to use a practical issue-spotting tip sheet to assess vendor diligence, notice obligations, governance safeguards and other core compliance requirements before deploying workplace AI systems.Â
