As AI systems become more complex and impactful, and AI regulations become more prevalent, companies and institutions must ensure their AI governance and compliance programs are not only robust, but also auditable. This session will explore how to design effective Terms of Reference for AI audits, including what governance enablers, technical safeguards and ethical readiness elements must be in place for a satisfactory audit outcome. We will unpack what makes an AI governance program “audit-ready,” from documentation and accountability structures to risk registers and model lifecycle controls. We will explore how internal audit can serve as a dry run for regulatory interaction. Attendees will gain practical insights into aligning internal governance with internal and external audit expectations, enabling transparency, trust and regulatory resilience.

What you will learn:

  • The foundational elements that enable auditability of an AI compliance program.
  • The pillars of a comprehensive AI audit.
  • How to design effective TORs for AI audit.
