Editor's note
This resource is part of the AI Governance Skills Framework (AIGSF), within the Professional Profiles section.
This is the broadest category that includes different aspects of technical functions within an organization. These roles support everything from advising on where and how to use AI within the organization to the appropriate use of data. Collectively, they build governance into AI infrastructure through the development of model versioning, evaluation gates, monitoring and drift detection and compliance dashboards. These profiles help develop internal controls and conduct technical assessments and evaluations for safety, fairness, explainability, robustness and security. A recurring skill across all technical roles is policy-technical translation, which allows governance and regulatory requirements to become technically measurable and feasible. A strong technical team will find ways to best leverage AI’s benefit for the value of the company.
