Policy is a key function of any governance program, for AI, developing meaningful policy can be one of the strongest enablers of safe and trusted AI adoption within an organization. Profiles within policy centers on ensuring an organization's AI governance effort remain aligned with the evolving external AI regulatory landscape. This includes designing, developing and implementing AI policies, guidance and standards that integrate legislative requirements with industry best practices, conducting horizon-scanning and directly advocating with regulators, standards bodies and industry groups. Policy roles need to remain vigilant on market sentiment. To do so, these roles are often active in public engagement activities.

Summary statement: Responsible for shaping and developing internal AI-related policies based on interpretation of external AI-related regulations.
