New Zealand Privacy Commissioner Michael Webster published the 2023 annual report. The agency continued to work on policy development, compliance and resolution for increased issues during technology development. The number of complaints to the commissioner's office increased significantly, nearly doubling from 2022's 486 complaints. Webster said the office will use the next year to expand their services "to support New Zealanders, particularly those most vulnerable to privacy harm."
