More employers are using driver-facing cameras to monitor commercial vehicle fleets, highlighting a need to balance employees’ privacy rights with employers’ goals of maintaining a safe work environment, Corporate Associate in the Business Law group at Miller Thomson Jane Huang writes in a blog post for trucknews.com. Huang says its important for employers to notify drivers of the cameras prior to their installation and implement a privacy policy that states how the cameras are being used and why, and outlines how long footage will be maintained.
