Razorpay, an online payment service in India, was forced to turn over payment records to police that were made to a nonprofit fact-checking website, Wired reports. Alt News co-founder Mohammed Zubair was arrested in June for allegedly receiving payments for the website from foreign countries which, if true, would constitute a violation of the Foreign Contribution Act. Meanwhile, the legal action against Razorpay signaled that digital businesses in India are under a legal microscope, Andy Mukherjee writes for Bloomberg.
