IP intelligence company Digital Envoy is acquiring location data broker X-Mode Social, The Wall Street Journal reports. X-Mode, which was removed from Apple and Google platforms last year due to concerns over its national security work, will be rebranded as Outlogic. Digital Envoy CEO Jerrod Stoller said the acquisition “allows us to further enhance our offerings related to cybersecurity, AI, fraud and rights management.” Following the purchase, Digital Envoy will no longer provide location information on U.S. devices to defense contractors.
