British man Matthew Hardy received a nine-year prison sentence on five counts of stalking in January, which is believed to be the longest penalty for a stalking conviction in U.K. history, the Guardian reports. Hardy stalked women online for more than a decade. He reportedly would pose as a woman on social media platforms and would claim to have information about his victim’s life. Hardy’s name was the subject of more than 100 stalking complaints from 62 victims, and he had been arrested 10 times prior to his conviction.
