G’day from Sydney!

For nearly a week now, it’s felt a little like I’ve been transported back to the 90s playground with all the talk about Pokemon — albeit in a slightly more sci-fi iteration. Whilst the game sounds like a heap of fun, with all the reports about privacy and security relating to "Pokemon Go," I’ll be doing some more research before I head out onto the streets with my smartphone in hand. In his post for Privacy Perspectives, Jedidiah Bracy, CIPP, looks into the potential privacy concerns.

On a more local note, if you are in New Zealand in early August we’d love to see you at the “An Electronic Health Record For Every New Zealander by 2020 — What Does This Really Mean?” forum will be held in Wellington with a live video link to Auckland. Speakers include the Director General of Health, Chai Chuah, New Zealand Medical Association Chair, Dr. Stephen Child, and OPC Senior Policy Adviser Sebastian Morgan-Lynch. It is free for iappANZ members ($99 for non-members). Register for Wellington here and for Auckland here.
