I am writing this having just come out of the Closing General Session of the IAPP Global Summit here in Washington and all I can say is ‘Wow.’ The last couple of days have been an absolutely fantastic experience for me and my colleagues from the iappANZ. We’ve met up with old friends and made new ones from across the globe who all share our passion for the privacy profession. With over 3,000 attendees it’s hard not to feel as though we are all — to paraphrase Trevor Hughes, the President and CEO of IAPP — part of something really big. During Tuesday’s Opening General Session, Trevor also announced the exciting news that the IAPP will have a CIPP-Asia certification available later this year — which is great news for our region.
I am heading back home to Australia shortly and am very much looking forward to sharing our insights, inspiration and ideas from the Global Summit with the iappANZ Summit sub-committee as we continue to plan for our iappANZ Summit in November in Sydney. As a volunteer board we rely greatly on our members to help us plan all our events including the Summit and we’re always on the look-out for your suggestions of topics or speakers you’d like to hear from. If you have any great ideas, please drop me a note at admin@iappanz.org.
