My LinkedIn feed was abuzz Wednesday, which was International Women’s Day. It was really awesome to see so many posts, blogs and videos highlighting all the amazing women in our profession, not to mention all the engagement that flowed from these posts.
I attended a virtual IAPP KnowledgeNet co-hosted by Ottawa and Halifax, which was a panel of stellar female privacy pros including Lynn Larson, Amanda Maltby, Tricia Ralph, Heather Casavechia and Lisa Hartman, who was the awesome moderator. It was a thoughtful, honest and interesting discussion where they talked about their careers in privacy, the kinds of challenges they have faced as female leaders and how, in turn, they have developed their leadership styles.
On this theme, while we know women are generally well represented in the privacy profession, like many other professions there is still much work to do when it comes to gender equality.
One of the things the IAPP has done is to create groups to discuss and tackle some of these issues. So why not consider joining Women Leading Privacy, which you can find more about at this link. With in-person conferences around the corner (finally!) we can even get together for these important conversations now, face to face.
On that note, have a great weekend and, if you happen to be visiting somewhere warm for March break, a most excellent and I’m sure much-deserved vacation.
