You may have heard there was a tragic bus crash last Friday in Ottawa. Three people were killed and, from the pictures of the wreckage, it is surprising there weren’t more fatalities.
Sadly, one of the people killed was a fellow privacy pro: Judy Booth. Judy had tirelessly worked in the federal government ATIP community and championed privacy throughout her career. She was a leader in every respect and contributed to our profession in many different ways, including by serving on the IAPP Canadian Advisory Board.
What we will miss most, however, is her smile, sense of humor, and quick wit. I really liked how much Judy loved to joke. She was always quick with a punchline that was as clever as it was funny.
Starting next week and moving into the following week, privacy pros are going to be meeting at various KnowledgeNets and Privacy After Hours events because we are quickly approaching Data Privacy Day. When we do meet up with our fellow privacy colleagues, let’s make sure to raise a glass together in honor of our friend Judy.
