Generative artificial intelligence is reshaping the insurance value chain, and insurers are operationalizing AI-driven tools to automate algorithmic underwriting, implement chatbots with institutional knowledge in underwriting workflows, assist with claims adjustment workflows and accuracy, and provide customer service representatives with real-time suggestions in answering policy questions. At the same time, calls for AI regulation are growing, with some states already enacting legislation, and federal action looming. This panel explores how current and developing uses of AI in the insurance industry can minimize risk under existing US legal frameworks, including the Colorado AI Act, California’s AB 2013, and the California Consumer Privacy Act rules on automated decision-making technology, and how data governance professionals can build and mature their AI and privacy compliance programs.

What you will learn:

  • Understand key legal and regulatory requirements relating to AI and privacy.
  • Understand larger regulatory expectations of insurance industry.
  • Have actionable recommendations for maturing their own governance programs.
