This hands-on workshop reframes privacy enhancing technologies from an inefficient compliance burden to a strategic enabler for maximizing business growth, velocity, and user trust. As companies spend resources on artificial intelligence, this workshop will help you advocate for efficient ways to implement AI strategies with privacy by design to limit harms of misusing data. Participants will learn a forward-thinking PETs deployment approach that integrates PETs development directly into the AI model lifecycle, taking a risk- and threat- model-based approach, ensuring privacy and data quality are foundational and not bolt-on.

Part 1 will ground attendees with a practical overview of the current PETs catalog (AI and non-AI), then look at practical examples of PET implementation and cross-functional efficiencies that complement siloed innovation, and finally the evolving regulatory landscape, and real-world examples of successful deployment roadmaps.

Part 2 will transition into an interactive session where attendees will break into teams to develop a homegrown PETs strategy for one of several real-world scenarios, such as a high-volume gig-economy platform or a large-scale enterprise cloud migration. Guided by industry experts, each group will architect a data lifecycle PETs roadmap designed to unlock data’s value, improve AI model efficiency, and turn privacy into a reputational advantage. The workshop will culminate in a discussion synthesizing key insights from each group into a unified framework for practical implementation. The primary goal is to ensure participants are equipped with ROI-focused language and automation-powered strategy that will power a more practical compliance regime rather than abstract first principles that are hard to build on and harder to quantify.

What you will learn:

  • Best practices and practical advice for embedding PETs into AI lifecycles.
  • Real-world use cases and regulatory trends to effectively drive strategic PETs deployment.
  • Hands-on, interactive exercises focused on designing practical PETs roadmaps to implement at your company or institution.
