U.S. State Privacy Crash Course — What is New and What is Next? - Full Day Workshop
Wednesday, 1 April
09:00 - 17:00 EDT
Intermediate level
Over the past few years, U.S. state lawmakers have passed numerous new consumer data privacy laws, as well as special laws for health, data brokers, biometrics, children’s data and artificial intelligence. Keeping pace with the changes is a full-time job, but not everyone can afford that luxury. This practical, half-day workshop helps participants understand the commonalities in U.S. legal requirements so they can build a world-class privacy operation that meets and exceeds them, while remaining mindful of how states are diverging. Presenters will focus on the U.S. state landscape and draw parallels to current federal standards. With handouts and interactive activities to help participants apply what they learn, this workshop is designed to help them return to their institutions with a game plan for what comes next.
What you will learn:
• Understand state-level laws and regulations, with a focus on their commonalities and emerging differences.
• Prepare for expected new U.S. legal requirements with strategies for future-proofing your operations.
• Build capacity for integrating emerging rules, including those that approach privacy from other domains (e.g., AI ethics and children’s safety).
Additional registration fee required.
