Frontlines of Cybersecurity: Industry Leaders on AI, Breach Response, Compliance
Wednesday, 1 April
09:00 - 12:30 EDT
Intermediate level
Cybersecurity has become a top concern for general counsels, data governance professionals, senior management, and boards of directors. The law is changing rapidly and so is the threat environment, as attackers continue to innovate. Cybersecurity compliance has become increasingly complex, and cybersecurity law has become its own discipline. This workshop, presented by the IAPP Cybersecurity Law Center, offers a unique opportunity to learn from senior levels of the FBI and from leading practitioners in the field, who have dealt with some of the largest and most complicated cyber incidents in history. With last year being the year of agentic AI, topics will include the cybersecurity risks and uses of AI; incident response, where cooperation with law enforcement and collaboration among internal teams and external resources is critical; the new focus on the national security implications of transborder flows of U.S. persons' data, under both Department of Justice regulation and Federal Trade Commission enforcement; and data breach litigation, including the make-or-break issue of standing.
What you will learn:
• Trends in data breach litigation.
• Practical advice on incident response, including ransomware payment.
• Contracting strategies for compliance with PADFAA and the DOJ sensitive data rule.
