The Delete Request and Opt-Out Platform, or DROP, is the first public-sector system in the world that allows you to delete your personal information from data brokers in a single request. DROP launched earlier this year with the requirement of data brokers registering by the end of January. We will go over how DROP works, including its technical aspects, some of the challenges faced while launching the system, and how the CPPA overcame those challenges to provide this revolutionary system to Californians.

What you will learn:

  • Update on the status of DROP nearly four months after launch.
  • The technical aspects of DROP.
  • Challenges faced before and during launch and how the CPPA overcame them. The future of DROP and how other jurisdictions might duplicate the effort.
