Adtech, Marketing and the Future of Consent in the Era of AI
Wednesday, 1 April
13:30 - 17:00 EDT
Intermediate level
The session focuses on how the regulatory landscape has shifted in the era of AI and what that means for structuring legal, product, and technical decision-making in practice. AI is now embedded across advertising and marketing systems, reshaping how data is targeted, inferred, priced, and reused. Consent no longer explains or controls many of the AI-driven practices regulators are focusing on most closely. Enforcement is increasingly centered on system design, data flows across vendors, and the outcomes of those choices. This interactive workshop examines how AI operates inside modern adtech ecosystems and how regulators are responding to higher-risk use cases, including advertising involving children. Using real-world examples, participants will work through emerging legal and regulatory developments and consider where consent applies, where disclosure may be sufficient, and where stronger governance and guardrails are expected.
What you will learn:
How AI powers modern advertising systems, from targeting and personalization to optimization, pricing, and data sharing.
- How regulators are examining AI-enabled advertising, including uses involving children, biometrics, databrokers, and chatbots.
How teams structure AI use in advertising and marketing to support risk-aware decision-making.
