Providing Digital Sovereignty: From Policy to Operational Control
Wednesday, 18 Nov.
14:45 - 15:45 CET
Intermediate level
Digital sovereignty is rapidly becoming one of the defining governance challenges for companies and institutions operating across jurisdictions, cloud platforms, AI systems and increasingly complex digital ecosystems. While discussions often focus on data residency or regulatory obligations, many companies still struggle to answer the broader question: How do you actually implement, measure and evidence digital sovereignty? This session argues that sovereignty is not simply a location problem. It is a continuous operational control problem.
The session introduces a framework for translating sovereignty principles into continuously evidenced controls that can be monitored, measured and demonstrated over time.
Participants will learn how governance is evolving from static documentation toward continuously measured controls that generate evidence, support assurance and create confidence within your company or institution. Participants will also gain insights on how to demonstrate confidence to regulators, their executive leadership teams and customers.
What you will learn:
Explain why digital sovereignty should be understood as a continuous operational control challenge rather than simply a data residency requirement.
Identify the operational control domains required to demonstrate sovereignty across data, AI, infrastructure, identity and third-party ecosystems.
Apply an evidence-driven framework for measuring, monitoring and continuously demonstrating digital sovereignty within their companies.
How to communicate to your executive leadership the value of digital sovereignty efforts.
