Protecting children online has become a policy priority across Europe. As new laws on age assurance, age-appropriate design, CSAM detection and other online safety measures emerge, policymakers face difficult questions about balancing child safety with other fundamental rights. This panel will explore how child protection and data protection can be reconciled through rights-respecting regulation and design that is effective and proportionate across different online services. Bringing together regulators, industry representatives and child-rights experts, the discussion will examine how privacy, safety and children's access to information can be advanced together. In an increasingly complex regulatory landscape, who safeguards the child's rights as a whole? And how can data protection authorities work alongside other regulators and stakeholders to ensure that the best interests of the child remain at the center of policymaking and enforcement?

What you will learn:

• How child safety and privacy can reinforce one another and safeguards that should be applied across all services.

• How multiple regulators can work together to protect children online while simultaneously safeguarding privacy, access to information and other fundamental rights.

• How the different national age assurance requirements are shaping the future of children's online safety in Europe.
