Digital sovereignty is reshaping Europe’s debate over data, cloud computing and artificial intelligence. But what does it mean in practice for companies that operate across borders? Is sovereignty about where data is stored, who can access it, who controls the technology, or whether a business can change providers without disrupting its operations? And is it realistic, or even necessary, when Europe regulates ambitiously but European alternatives remain limited across much of the technology stack?

This panel will explore how Europe’s ambitions translate into corporate decisions. The discussion will examine the relationship between fundamental rights, economic security and competitiveness; the credibility of sovereign cloud and AI offerings; the consequences of different national approaches and what it would take for Europe to achieve sovereignty. Through a practical scenario, panelists will consider how companies can assess critical dependencies, evaluate supplier assurances and preserve the benefits of global technology. Attendees will leave with questions to bring to their boards, procurement teams and technology leaders as digital sovereignty moves from policy debate to business strategy.

What you will learn:

• Distinguish data location from legal, operational and technological control.

• Evaluate whether sovereignty is realistic and necessary against the needs of specific data, systems and business functions.

• Identify practical steps for managing supplier dependence, AI adoption and continuity across borders.
