The rapid evolution of artificial intelligence and the increasing reliance on data for innovation are immense opportunities but realizing them requires a commitment to responsible data collection, processing and use. In the EU, this commitment is being tested by a complex and sometimes conflicting regulatory stack — from the foundational GDPR to new acts like the AI Act and Data Act, and the newly-arrived Data Union Strategy. We will examine the critical balance between promoting the free flow of data, enabling AI-driven services and maintaining the highest standards of data stewardship and customer trust. With a focus on the enterprise cloud environment, we will identify policy needs for simplification and predict how this landscape is changing to balance innovation and trust.

What you will learn:

  • The foundational principles that must underpin enterprise data strategies in B2B cloud contexts.
  • The need for consistent de-identification standards as a key ingredient for innovation.
  • An understanding of the critical role of accountability-based transfer mechanisms is enabling secure and seamless global data transfers.
  • Forward-looking predictions on how policy should support accountability-based global data transfers and encourage mutual recognition to foster innovation.
