On 19 Nov., the European Commission is due to publish the Digital Package, which will include digital rulebook simplification proposals. Brussels has been looking at the EU digital rulebook to determine where current policies can be simplified or streamlined in the areas of data, cybersecurity and artificial intelligence. This exercise is set to address several instruments, including the Data Act, Data Governance Act, the NIS2 Directive and aspects of the AI Act among others. The simplification exercise could be transformational for companies’ governance and trigger significant changes to the practical implementation of each of these instruments individually, as well as of their interplay with one another and with the GDPR.
Â
With the first Simplification Omnibus proposing a targeted change to the GDPR in May and the Digital Package expected 19 Nov., this session will dive into the digital simplification plans of the European Commission and unpack potential impacts for compliance and governance professionals.
