This panel will explore how regulating entities assess the risks of privacy harms. We will focus on how current practices are being challenged by emerging regulator guidance and the role of civil society in holding accountability for the harm caused to individuals through data malpractices. We will consider intrusive profiling, poor data handling, security mismanagements such as over-collection, overexposure or over-retention, and new harms arising from misuses of LLMs and GenAI. Our panel-led discussion will address the respective roles of data privacy, AI and information security impact assessments.

  • The role of privacy and AI professionals within multidisciplinary teams while addressing AI-specific risks.
