How is AI governance conducted in industry today? What are the best practices and common challenges companies face? How can practitioners prepare for AI governance work? This session brings together AI governance experts from the academy, industry, and civil society to share their insights on the state-of-the-art industry practice, common challenges and opportunities for governing AI on the ground.
The session will begin with a series of lightning talks, where each speaker will draw insights from a joint project reviewing over 70 recent empirical studies on AI governance in industry, including their own research and syntheses from the broader research community. This will be followed by a panel discussion that delves deeper into the key opportunities and challenges of implementing AI governance in practice. The discussion will also explore how efforts to establish privacy practices on the ground can inform AI governance strategies. The session will conclude with an open Q&A, allowing the audience to engage directly with the speakers.
