Emerging regulatory frameworks acknowledge that different actors along the AI value chain should have different responsibilities. Meanwhile, AI Governance guidance and frameworks often discuss high level common principles like transparency and robustness without distinguishing how these principles should be implemented along the AI value chain. AI developers, responsible for designing models and systems, lay the foundations upon which deployers and other actors build their products and services. Deployers, meanwhile, are responsible for deciding how they integrate third-party models and systems into their everyday operations and products, determining how end users’ experiences are impacted by AI. In this panel, AI Governance leaders will discuss which challenges and opportunities are a priority for them as developers and deployers, how regulatory conceptions of these roles impact their operations and governance programs, and how they think developers and deployers can best work together.

What you will learn:

  • Understanding of key roles along the AI value chain and how one entity may fall into multiple categories for different product offerings.
  • Strategies for navigating regulatory requirements based on your role in the AI value chain.
  • Real-world examples of how developers and deployers are implementing AI governance.
