Activate & maintain your certification

The IAPP requires either a membership or a CMF to keep certification(s) current.

Membership

For members, the CMF is already included in the IAPP membership benefits, which renew annually. Your membership will automatically activate your certification(s).

Certification Maintenance Fee

For those opting not to choose IAPP Membership, you can purchase a CMF to keep certification(s) current. This fee covers the entirety of a certification term.

Continuing professional education

The IAPP strives to ensure its certifications stand the test of time. Therefore, we require that certification recipients submit continuing professional education credits per certification, per term. Please note that some activities may apply to multiple designations.

CPE Central

Find exactly what you need to fulfill your CPE requirements. Many materials are relevant to multiple credentials, which means you can apply credit to as many credentials as you see fit, if the material is relevant.

Submit CPEs

We recommend submitting CPEs within 90 days of the event or completion. Have a surplus? If those extra CPEs were earned within the last 6 months of your certification term, you can carry over up to 10 CPEs into your next term.

Say goodbye to maintenance fees

Want to avoid maintenance fees? When you purchase an IAPP membership, your Certification Maintenance Fee is included as part of your benefits.
