IAPP Appoints Dylan Gilbert New Senior Fellow for Privacy Engineering

Portsmouth, N.H. - May 4, 2026 – The IAPP, the world’s largest association of privacy, AI governance, and digital responsibility professionals, is pleased to announce the appointment of Dylan Gilbert as Senior Fellow for Privacy Engineering.

"The rapid evolution of digital governance domains is redefining how trust is built and maintained,” IAPP President and CEO J. Trevor Hughes says. “Dylan’s addition to the IAPP team reinforces our commitment to shaping the future of the fields to which our members commit their careers.”  

As Senior Fellow for Privacy Engineering, Dylan will expand and elevate the IAPP’s engagement with the technical design and implementation of governance across digital systems, spanning privacy, AI and digital responsibility.

Dylan joins the IAPP with expertise and well-recognized leadership from years at the U.S. National Institute for Standards and Technology, where he led the Privacy Engineering Program. He advanced the development of privacy risk management processes, led the program’s engagement in international standards bodies and oversaw development of the Privacy-Enhancing Technologies Testbed.  Prior to NIST, Dylan led privacy advocacy at Public Knowledge as Policy Counsel, during which time he also supported work on copyright, cybersecurity, and other tech policy issues.
