The European Parliament wrapped-up the ninth parliamentary term in June 2024. In these five years, many new laws in the digital field were proposed, negotiated and adopted. Some earlier legislation was revamped, work was resumed on certain files that were carried over from the previous parliamentary term, but not every file on the docket made it past the finish line. The future of the legislative files that did not reach their plenary votes during the ninth term is uncertain. Members of the new Parliament will decide whether to continue their predecessors' work or request the European Commission to modify or withdraw its proposals.

This chart provides a partial overview of the European Parliament's legislative outputs during its ninth parliamentary term. It focuses on some of the most significant files in the digital field and showcases the state of play of each file as the new term begins. An explanation of the EU legislative process can be found in the EU decision-making at a glance: How do EU laws get approved? chart.
