Verizon published its "Verizon Business 2021 Data Breach Investigations Report," which analyzed 29,207 data security incidents and found 5,258 breaches. The number of breaches increased by more than 1,300 from the prior year, while the median financial impact of a breach was more than $21,000. The report also found 85% of breaches occurred with a human error, and 80% was discovered by third parties instead of the breached company.
