The U.S. House Committee on Energy and Commerce voted unanimously, 50-0, to move the proposed Protecting Americans' Data from Foreign Adversaries Act to full House consideration. The bill would prohibit U.S.-based data brokers from transferring sensitive data to foreign adversaries, complementing U.S. President Joe Biden's recent executive order on such transfers. Meanwhile, The Wall Street Journal published an excerpt from journalist Byron Tau's book on U.S. intelligence agencies buying location data from brokers that might otherwise require warrants to obtain.
