U.S. FBI Director Christopher Wray recently told lawmakers that TikTok’s U.S. operations raise "national security concerns," Reuters reports. He claimed the Chinese government could potentially use the application to control users' devices and "control data collection on millions of users or control the recommendation algorithm" and “influence operations.” A TikTok spokesperson said the FBI’s input is only one element of the U.S. government’s Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States negotiations with the Chinese parent company, ByteDance.
