Tencent founder and CEO Pony Ma Huateng claimed the 2021 WeChat photo privacy issue was due to a misunderstanding that was fixed with an update to the app's software, The South China Morning Post reports. Huateng said the issue was "a misunderstanding caused by cache acceleration of images" after WeChat was accused of accessing photos without user consent.
