Developing content for children has become big business for entertainment platforms, Marketing Brew reports. However, when children watch programs on streaming services, companies are required to limit collection of their data and restrict behavioral and targeted advertising, per the U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act. Platforms such as Disney+ and HBO Max feature an option for adult users to create a streaming account specifically for their children that feature ad and targeting limitations by default, or so-called “vanilla versions,” according to IAPP Managing Director, Washington, D.C., Cobun Zweifel-Keegan, CIPP/US, CIPM.
