The New York City Council approved a bill requiring online food delivery services to share customers’ data with establishments where they have placed an order. “The information would consist of the customer’s name, phone number, e-mail address, delivery address and the contents of their order,” the legislation said. Customers can opt out of the data sharing and request their information be deleted. Establishments are permitted to retain the data, but are prohibited from “selling, renting or disclosing the information” without the customers’ “express consent.”
