The Philippines’ National Privacy Commission is investigating reports of unauthorized transactions from the accounts of approximately 700 BDO Unibank clients, Philstar Global reports. Privacy Commissioner John Henry Naga said the investigation began Dec. 11 and will include a close look at potential violations of the Data Privacy Act, as well as a review of the bank’s 10-year-old system “to determine whether sufficient technical, organizational, and physical safeguards were in place to prevent unauthorized disclosure of personal information.”
