Germany's State Commissioner for Data Protection of Lower Saxony claimed retailers that require consumers' birthdates for certain items is a violation consumers' privacy. The guidance comes after the Lower Saxony Higher Administrative Court recently ruled that collecting consumers' birthdates may bring EU General Data Protection Regulation obligations retailers can not fulfill.
