Democratic leaders in the Illinois Legislature filed a bill that would change the state's Biometric Information Privacy Act, Capitol News Illinois reported. The law allows residents to sue over illegal collection of biometric data, which has resulted in hundreds of lawsuits and was recently affirmed by two court rulings. Some industry groups said the law does not accurately reflect their collection practices.
