A judge in Cook County, Illinois, approved a $6 million settlement to resolve a class-action lawsuit filed on behalf of thousands of donors to a plasma clinic, the Cook County Record reports. Class members alleged the BioLife clinic violated the Illinois Biometric Information Privacy Act when it reportedly collected fingerprint scans from “tens of thousands” of plasma donors. It was alleged BioLife did not provide donors disclosures that it would collect fingerprint scans nor received their consent.
