Google and New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas reached a settlement over U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act violations. Under the settlement, Google will create a $3.8 million privacy and online safety initiative for children in New Mexico. Google Play Store applications will also be required to use age-screening to avoid collecting information from children under 13 and Google will be required to “increase parents’ visibility into what information apps are collecting from their children.”
