The incoming German government signed a coalition deal supporting the ban on facial recognition use in public spaces, Politico reports. The Social Democrats, Greens and Free Democrats developed the 177-page deal calling for the public use ban and "automated state scoring systems by AI are to be excluded under European law," according to the document. The ban follows the proposed EU Artificial Intelligence Act, published in April, to strongly regulate EU use of AI.
