A U.S. judge accepted a banking mobile application's $58 million settlement in a class-action lawsuit for selling user data, Courthouse News Service reports. Customers of the Plaid app claimed the company “harvested and sold” their financial information without receiving their consent. "Plaid provides bank 'linking' and verification services" for financial tech apps, including Venmo and Cash App. When plaintiffs used popular fintech apps they unknowingly were providing their banking login credential to Plaid.
