BBB National Programs’ National Advertising Division determined DuckDuckGo “provided a reasonable basis” for privacy protection claims and recommended the search engine clarify protections for consumers. The NAD reviewed claims by DuckDuckGo that its mobile application and desktop extension is the “best, quickest and easiest step you can take for your privacy health” and that it does not share customer personal data with third parties. It recommended the company clarify its app’s privacy protections do not extend to the use of search engines and outside apps.
