Spain's data protection authority, the Agencia Española de Protección de Datos, issued joint guidance with three regional DPAs regarding entities seeking to deploy Wi-Fi tracking technology, which allows mobile devices to be tracked through the Wi-Fi signals they emit. The DPAs said before such technology can be employed, a data protection impact assessment must be conducted.
